New Client

I downloaded the new client. When opening with DxWND the screen of the game is not lined up with the window. This makes it such that my cursor does not line up with the game interface. I tried changing the DxWND settings without success. I also tried adding the postabno 2 to the param.dat file. Any ideas?

Hm...
Not sure I know the answer to this as I use VirtualBox not DxWnd to run the client.
I can have a play and see if I can get it to work.

OK - once I started running it as an Administrator, it runs fine for me under DxWnd.
Does your screen size in DxWnd match your screen size for the postab that you have chosen? Default tab 0 is 800x600.

I also tried running it with postabno 2 (1024x768 mode) and it appears to run ok in DxWnd. There is a window border around it but everything appears to line up.
Note I did change the
"Window initial position & size" to w=1024 and H=768 under the Main tab.

Thanks for your help. I am running DxWnd as administrator. The default window size was 800x600. I also tried the 1024x768 after adding "postabno 2" in the text of the param.dat file. It only made the window bigger but didn't actually increase the size of the client screen and it was still positioned off to the top right corner. Am I doing something different than what you suggested?

Are you using the default DxWnd settings included in the download pack?
The only things needed to be changed were on the Main tab.
- Name
- Path
- Launch
- W
- H
Make sure yiu are using the correct postabno for the selected screen size.
Postabno 1 is the 1024x768 version.
"b) postabno 1 (1024x768)"
Posttabno 2 is the 960x540 version.
"c) postabno 2 (960x540)"
I have not tried position table 2, only 0 and 1.

Are you able to post the following:
- A screenshot of how the game looks for you
- A screenshot of each tab of settings for your dxwnd
- The contents of your param.dat file
and confirm if you replaced your pnglib file with the download and your gfx folder doesn't have any png's that could overwrite the new background

I had a hard time figuring out how to post photos here. Even though I uploaded it and the link works, it won't put the image in the post. It's not very good quality, but you can see how the game interface is off centered. I am using the default settings on Dxwnd. It looks identical except to this post (
http://aranockonline.com/forum/viewtopi ... ight=dxwnd) except that I am using 800x600.

i highly suspect you have conflicting settings between the resolution and window size or something in dxwnd. Would be good if you can post screenshots of Main tab and Video Tab. Also try and not use Dxwnd and see what happens.
I would check the following settings and try mine instead.
Main Tab
Window Position and Size:
x: 50
y: 50
W: 800
H: 600
Video Tab
Screen Resolution:
SVGA -> ON
untick initial Resolution
untick max resolution
THe window behind the game looks way to big for 800x600, but could easily be 1280x900, so i half think you have some of your settings set to his 1280x900 while others set to 800x600

I tried running it without DxWnd and it fills the entire screen and is centered. However the responsiveness is much too slow.

i dont see anything jumping out as wrong with those settings.
With your dxwnd, could i get you to duplicate your settings but point the duplicated to the other exe in the folder (the old client).
I want to know if you have the same issue with the old client as with the new client.

Trying the oldclient is a good idea to eliminate possibilities.
It is curious that your version of DxWnd looks different to mine.
I also noticed two differences on the Main tab.
On the first screen I have clicked "No Banner" and "Keep Aspect Ratio".
The Video tab is very different to mine.
If you want to run the client in Native Full Screen mode, you need to set it the Win XP Compatibility mode and run it with the appropriate version for your Graphics Card (assuming you are running Win 8 or later).
Otherwise you will get the mega lag or crash because Win 10 does not support DirectDraw.

When I run the "old client" it has the same issue. My version of DxWnd does not have an option to duplicate. I downloaded it separately from the game download as I don't think it was part of the package when I first downloaded the client. The previous version of the client still runs fine and that's what I have been using.
When I changed the new client to run in compatibility mode it still was very slow. I guess I'll just stick with the old one since it works.
