I always thought one of the best aspects of this game was that it was small enough so guides didn't exist, meaning you had to figure things out on your own.

I like guides. I still don't know a ton of stuff about the new aspects of the game - how to get the shield skill, C2, etc... Guides are nice because then I can go get stuff with a half hour I have here and there. I love the maps topic!
