Light change

Post by Estherus »

We know light is handy at low lvls when ur in dark places. But everyone starts focussing on infravision at some point and light becomes useless. Nor do lower ranks raise light above 1 base, cause that is enough to be useful and its a waste to put anymore experience into it.

But what if light countered Blind in some way. It sounds only logical that light might counter it (or cause it lol) but if ur half blind, more light helps to see things somewhat more clearly. This would counter necros a bit, but it sounds like a nice and usefull way to raise light just for that reason. Maybe mobs later ingame have blind and u can only win by raising light so the figths become doable.

Idea?

Hm....

Not just a pretty face.

This has some merit to at least consider the implications.

Question:

Light counter to Blind.
Should it be having the Skill (like Immunity) or actually casting Blind and having it active (and being very visible)?

I like the idea. Time for Motoko's OP Torch to shine some light (+200 mod).

Should be casted on... Making it have the disadvantage of showing your position when stealthed due to the surrounding light change. Would actually counteract the fact that it would reduce blind's effect.

Light should be on at all times. Thus making it easier to see you and so.... they can wave at you greetings of happiness and joy.

I think this would probably work great if applied only to PVP battles, could cause some really odd balancing issues if mobs also got blind protection.

Didn't meant this to be something for mobs to have as blind protection. But for players to protect themselves from mobs and in pvp

Equal rights for Unreal Characters.
Why would we discriminate against characters just because they are not real people?

Note most NPCs do not cast light unless they have the light spell and it is in a dark place.

The builders can change the amount of light cast by changing their base spell power.
There is also a field to indicate if light should be cast. I suspect this is regardless of how dark it is but I have not tested that.

Making light a usefull spell sounds nice and all... but why does blind have to get pretty much directly nerfed as a result? It's pretty much completely unused by npcs, and it's not exactly the best spell in pvp unless you're fighting sorc/warrior, and even if you are its so easy to get higher res than blind can land on.
How about making Undead regen weaker based on your light mod instead.

To be honest the only NPCs I see casting light are the town NPCs, like the Guards, assuming this is true, then it means that blind in PVE will not be affected if light were to be used as a counter measure, but, don't listen to me though, I only spend time inside the temple lol

Also.

Skua the God of light and justice gave us the power to cast light upon ourselves to fight the evil demons and the cursed undead.

Following the principles of skua, undead should be weaker where there is light and viceversa, stronger when it's dark. So their normal power (OP) shines at night and becomes not so great in the daylight.

Don't just nerf blind, nerf them overall! for a short period of time :D

Light reduce all offensive spells? Like immunity but brighter?

I could see some wider implications of this in the rest of the game.
